Jazz Is… Dance Project
is dedicated to the dissemination of jazz dance education, choreography, performance, and scholarship.
Inspired by the democratic nature of jazz music, a uniquely Black American art form, Jazz Is… Dance Project values improvisation, stylization, and humanity in jazz dance. Honoring the roots and fruits of jazz in the classroom, in the studio, and on stage, the Project seeks to widen the palate and visibility of jazz dance beyond the most immediate, contemporary forms and venues.

The Woodshed
The Woodshed is a week-long professional development retreat for mid-career jazz dance artists with an established practice and understanding of the history of jazz dance.

Jazz Dance Direct
A digital research project (2018-2023) and directory website devoted exclusively to the promotion and visibility of jazz dance companies, publications, events, organizations, and college programs. It remains online as an archive.
